Type Write Now is a writing tool: a typewriter you type on, guided warm-ups, prompts and exercises, and a record of the days you write. It runs in your browser. The desk needs an account, which is what keeps a copy of your work and makes it available on any machine you sign in on. The demo on the front page saves nothing.

You own everything you write here. We claim no ownership of it, and take no license beyond what is needed to store your work, back it up and display it to you.

We will not publish, sell or share your writing, and will not use it to train any model.

Use a real email address. It is the only way to recover the account if you lose your password. Keep your password private. You are responsible for activity under your account, and should tell us if you believe someone else has access. One account is for one person.

You must be at least 13, or 16 in the EU and UK without a parent's consent.

A new account starts a fourteen-day free trial, and a payment card is required to begin it. Nothing is charged during those fourteen days.

At the end of the fourteenth day the card is charged automatically for the plan you chose, and the subscription renews from then on until you cancel. We will email you before the first charge is taken.

You can cancel at any point during the fourteen days, from Settings or from Manage billing, and nothing will be charged. Cancelling during the trial ends it immediately.

There is no free plan to sign up for. A subscription, or the trial that becomes one, is how the desk is opened.

If a subscription ends — because you cancelled it, or because a payment could not be taken — the account is not deleted and neither is anything in it. You can still sign in, read every document you have written, see your whole record and your streak, and export your writing as plain text or Markdown. Your words remain yours and we will not hold them to get you to pay. What stops is the rest: the typewriters, the courses, the paper, inks and typefaces, and export to Word, PDF and ePub.

Instead, what gets paused. The typewriters and authors you unlock beyond the first of each, the paper stocks, inks, typefaces and themes, the full curriculum, and export to Word, PDF and ePub. the record that you earned them is permanent and stays visible, and each is waiting to be claimed. Subscribing returns all of it, including anything you earned during the fourteen days.

Nothing you write is lost. You own your documents

• Stripe handles billing. We never see or store your card details.
• Subscriptions renew automatically, monthly or annually, until you cancel. The price is shown before you pay.
• You can cancel at any time from Settings. Cancelling stops the next charge, and Full continues until the end of the period you have already paid for.
• Charges are not refunded except where the law requires it. Any statutory right of withdrawal where you live is unaffected by these terms.
• If a payment fails, Stripe retries it. If it keeps failing, the account returns to Free. Your writing, your record and everything you have earned are unaffected.
• If prices change, existing subscribers are emailed at least 30 days before it affects them, and may cancel instead.

Do not use the service unlawfully, or to store or send unlawful material. Do not attempt to breach it, overload it, or reach another writer's work. Do not resell the service or share one account between people. Do not copy the software, artwork, machines or sounds out of it.

We may suspend or close accounts that do these things. Where we can, we will warn you first and give you time to export your writing.

You can close your account whenever you like, from Settings, without asking us and without a reason. Export your writing first, because closing it deletes the copy we hold along with your record and every usage event attached to it. If we discontinue the service, we will give at least 30 days' notice.

The service is provided as is. We do not guarantee that it will always be available, that data will never be lost, or that it will suit any particular purpose. Keep your own copies of anything important. The export function exists for that.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before it arose. Nothing here limits liability for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for anything that cannot lawfully be limited. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.

If these terms change materially, we update the date above and email account holders before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new version.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Tennessee, United States, and its courts have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country of residence, and may bring a claim in your local courts.
